Steve Simmons likes pushing buttons to get clicks.

Steve Simmons also likes to get his buttons pushed so tell him Ozzie is an HHOFer for the rest of his life.

hahaha!  who cares what that moron thinks.  osgood took over from HASEK in the first round against nashville in ‘08 and then posted a 1.55 GAA the rest of the way.  cups aren’t won in the regular season.  they’re won when the chips are down and the winners get their names etched in silver.  of course the stat matters.  because there’s a cup after it.

spare me the bullshit.

This just shows his idiocy. Frankly this is one of the best arguments FOR Osgood to be in the HHOF. Doesn’t every team want a goalie who ups his play in the playoffs, comes up big at the biggest moments?

Osgood was never the flashiest goalie but his performance in 2008 was fantastic and a key to that Cup run.

Osgood sealed it in my book with that later career Cup-winning
clutch play when it mattered most in 2008

That he came so close to doing it again the next Spring
further proves it wasn’t one hot streak.

This is just one of Simmons’ pet topics
by which to stir up readers by being provocatively
dumb and wrong.

Ozzie belongs. An excerpt from a USA Today Bowman interview April 2017,

Bowman: I still prefer to think that goaltending is the most important position. Very seldom do teams win a playoff series without strong goaltending. If the goalie in your end isn’t outplaying the guy at the other end you are going to have a lot of trouble. You need a good defenseman, but the most important player is always the goaltender.

I think Scotty knows a great deal more about what it takes to win the Cup than any sports writer.

Simmons seems like a bitter old man.

When Ozzie was in his prime he was a goalie you count bank on, he did get a little contract selfish when he left.  Ozzie lost effectiveness when he started dropping to his knees and playing low, he needed to continue to stand up to cover the top of the net.
