Videos- Three Bad Hits From Last Night

via Kent Youngblood at Russo's Rants,

If you watched the game, you saw the hit that Chicago’s Andrew Desjardins put on Justin Fontaine early in the second period. Fontaine was skating along the blue line when Desjardins appeared to lunge at him, clipping him and sending Fontaine to the ice. He needed help getting to the locker room and is, according to Yeo, “week to week’’ with a lower body injury.

Asked if he thought the 2-minute tripping call was correct, here’s what Yeo said: “You don’t like a knee-on-knee hit,” he said. So, I know it’s a tough one for the refs, and I kind of understood what they were saying. But certainly I felt it warranted a 5-minute major.’’

(Brad) Marchand was later ejected for his hit on Dmitry Kulikov. Gallant said Kulikov broke his nose and is questionable for Saturday's game against the Capitals.

"I just saw the replay of it,'' said Marchant, who could face suspension.

"[Kulikov] was a little off balance. I just pushed him. It’s not like I buried him hard or anything like that. It’s unfortunate. I obviously didn’t mean to bury him from behind, but things happen quick.”

All three of these hits warrant 5 and a game.  They all should face a hearing and get some unpaid time off.  Marchand, because this is habit, should get at least 10 games.  The others should get at least 3 games.
