Videos- The Good Goal Call Changed The Momentum Of The Edmonton/Anaheim Game

05/04/2017 at 7:17am EDT

from David Staples of the Edmonton Journal,

Perry’s bumping into Oilers goalie Cam Talbot prevented him from being able to stop a shot from Ducks forward Ryan Getzlaf.

To that point, Edmonton had had eight scoring chances, the Ducks just four. Edmonton led 2-o. The Oilers were rolling, playing some of their best hockey of this series.

After the blown call by refs Dan O’Halloran and Kevin Pollack, however, the life was sucked out of the Oil and their raucous crowd. The Ducks out-chanced 10-to-1 in the rest of the second period. The Oilers played as if shell-shocked.

It didn’t help that the Perry non-call was quickly followed by a second Ducks goal where Anaheim was evidently offside but the Oilers were unable to challenge the play, having used their timeout on Anaheim’s first illegal goal.
