from the CP at TSN,
Ron Hainsey scored the game-winner for the Carolina Hurricanes in the third period as they beat the Maple Leafs 3-2 Thursday night at Air Canada Centre. It was Toronto's first loss since Oct. 8.
Hainsey's goal was controversial because he banked a pass off the boards in his defensive zone that appeared to be icing. No Hurricanes player touched it, but Carolina forward Radek Dvorak beat Leafs defencemen Morgan Riellyand Cody Franson to the faceoff circles.
Because of the new hybrid icing rule that was instituted for this season, the linesman waived off icing. Bernier did not play the puck, and it deflected off the boards and off his right skate and into the net.
