Video- Lindy Ruff Not Happy With Incidental Goalie Interference Call

You don't need to be a lip reader to understand what Ruff was saying after one ref called it a goal but was overruled by the other on-ice officials.

The action start at the :24 second mark.

That’s a tough one for the refs. I know that Berglund makes contact, but it would have been my feeling that the guy steamrolling Elliott could have not pushed him 5 feet across the mouth of the crease. If the initial puck carrier had scored, I would have said it was a goal, but it goes in significantly after initial contact.

Personally, I would have waived off the goal for incidental contact but not given a penalty either.

If that was Crosby, that would be a good goal.  Its how he scores 90% of the time.

As far as that particular play goes, if the initial shot had gone in, I would say it should be a goal.  But it doesn’t, and Garbutt pushes Elliott out of the crease before the second shot puts it home.  So to me, its a good call by the refs, although it shouldn’t have been a delayed call, which makes it look a little suspect.
