Give the coach one or two challenges a game for anything that results in a goal within 30 seconds (cancelled out by change of possession) of the occurrence, but only give them 10 seconds after the goal to initiate the challenge. The refs don’t get the benefits of instant replay on every call, so neither should a team when deciding to review a play.

The room/ref has 30 seconds once the replays are received to make the call.

If you are wrong, you lose your challenge in the following game, or are given a penalty, or both.

This will eliminate challenges on these really small offsides or very close mistakes, but allow egregious errors to be challenged when everyone on a team knows a clear mistake was made.

Normal “did the puck cross the line?” reviews will continue challenge free.
