VGK Trade Calvin Pickard To Toronto

Their next tweet says Pickard has been assigned to the Marlies.

If you missed it earlier, he cleared waivers this week too.

Vegas release is below...

VEGAS (October 6, 2017) – Vegas Golden Knights General Manager George McPhee announced today, October 6, the team has acquired forward Tobias Lindberg and a sixth-round pick in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft from the Toronto Maple Leafs in exchange for goaltender Calvin Pickard, who cleared waivers earlier today.

Following the acquisition, Lindberg has been assigned to the Chicago Wolves of the American Hockey League.

Lindberg spent last season with American Hockey League’s Toronto Marlies, recording 16 points (6G, 10A) in 44 games. During the 2015-16 season, he appeared in six games for the Maple Leafs and recorded two assists.

He was drafted in the fourth round (102nd overall) of the 2013 NHL Entry Draft by the Ottawa Senators.

Pickard started two games for the Golden Knights during the preseason, going 0-1-1 with a 4.00 goals-against-average. Pickard was acquired by Vegas in the 2017 Expansion Draft from the Colorado Avalanche.

This happened with Pedan earlier - he was free on waivers, why not just pick him up? But the value in the trade is that there is no requirement to have the player on the NHL roster.
