Three Teams Battling For Two Playoff Spots In The Western Conference

Here are a few "ifs" between Detroit. Minnesota and Columbus going into the last game of the season.

Minnesota will win the tie-breaker if even in points with Detroit or Columbus.

Detroit wins the tie-breaker if tied with Columbus in points.

Columbus doesn't win any tie-breaker so they must finish a point ahead of Detroit or Minnesota to finish 7th or 8th.

Games on Saturday

Detroit plays in Dallas at 7:00pm ET, Columbus at home against Nashville at 7:00pm ET and Minnesota plays at Colorado at 7:30pm ET.

now that Minny lost, we can lock down 7th with a win tomorrow. I prefer the fowl over Sheecago anyway.

I wish that was the case NIVO, but I’m pretty sure Minny gets 7th if they win their last game.  They won the season series 3-2 and I believe that’s the next tiebreaker when ROW are even.

Nevermind, brain fart there. Thought Det was tied with Minny for a second. I agree NIVO, would rather see the Ducks…

I think there’s pluses and minuses to playing either the Ducks or the Hawks, but they are irrelevant.  Get at least the 1 point tomorrow and get into the playoffs without having to worry about what Columbus and Minny are doing.  Then you worry about matchups.

The Wings have been playing well.
I hope they continue to play that way Saturday.
Dallas will not make it easy.

cool hmm

I see potential danger for the Wings ... if late in a close or tied game they start playing “not to lose”.  That would be a recipe for a regulation loss.

big surprise

Detroit needs to go full speed.  Quit playing down to their competitions level.  They’ve been mostly good about it.  In Nashville they were getting back into old habits before bouncing back.  Have to stay hard on the forcheck and wear down the opposition D.  They’re going to do it to your D, so why not return the favor?  Better the D feel pressure and make a stupid pass to capitalize on, instead of giving him 20’ and looping instead of contact.

Dallas will play tough as hell, gotta be ready for it and be more tough.  And keep moving your legs.  Can’t stand seeing flat footed Wings on the ice.  Always working whether it’s to cover you guy or pressure the puck or getting open for the puck carrier, always move your feet.  They did on the power-play and they rocked it.  Just want them to keep this shit up.  They haven’t won 4 in a row yet this year, hope they have it in them.

You know, if the Wings were 6-2 in…

Just kidding.  Seriously though, this is the new NHL.  Just get in and throw your ticket into the postseason hat.  If the standings stay as is:

-Every game between Minny and Chicago this year was a one goal affair.
-Detroit won their last two against Anaheim.
-SJ is 3-0 against Vancouver this year.
-LA is 3-0 against St. Louis this year.

Seeds don’t really matter anymore.  A team might get a small bump from playing at home, but that’s about it.  Being 3rd or 8th isn’t exactly representative of relative team strength.

My pants will be filling with poo as the Bobovsky vs Rinne game unfolds.
leftwinglock.com has Rinne starting as “Probable.”
Minny brought Giles Meloche out of retirement to netmind their final game against the Avs. The 62 yr old is in the best shape of his life they say and those in Minny still get misty eyed over that 1982 season where they finished 1st in the old chuck norris division.
Send out Tootoo to run Ray Whitney from the get go Babs!
