from Terry Koshan of the Toronto Sun,
With Auston Matthews and Mitch Marner a year away from signing big contracts, presumably, and with William Nylander on the docket this summer, can the Leafs afford to add a significant piece in free agency once July 1 hits?
“We have the best cap people in the league, I hope, so we will try to figure that out if the opportunity presents itself,” Dubas said at the American Airlines Center.
“We’re confident right now with our cap situation that we can do really whatever we want to do at this point. Nothing is going to stop us and hold us back. That’s how we will proceed here through the entire summer.”
The Leafs have approximately $25 million US in salary cap space with the bar now set at $79.5 million.
