It’s ‘Tragic Number’ time.

That’s the opposite of ‘Magic Number’ time.

After the Tuesday debacle in St. Louis in which the Blues chased Mikko Koskinen early in the second period and had a 4-0 lead at the same time the Oilers had registered their fifth shot on goal of the game en route to 7-2 drubbing, Edmonton’s ‘Tragic Number became six.

The way the Oilers failed to produce a single shot on goal in the first third of every period, were outplayed in every aspect to the game from start to finish, paraded to the penalty box and had body language that looked as defeated as the scoreboard insisted they were, the ‘Tragic Number’ might as well have been zero.
