GLENDALE, ARIZONA – Arizona Coyotes General Manager Bill Armstrong announced today that the Coyotes have acquired a second-round draft choice in the 2021 NHL Entry Draft from the Ottawa Senators in exchange for center Derek Stepan.
“On behalf of the entire Coyotes organization, I would like to thank Derek for everything he did for the Coyotes the past three seasons,” said Armstrong. “Derek is the consummate professional and a class act. We wish him and his family all the best in the future.”
Stepan recorded 10-18-28 with 16 penalty minutes (PIM) in 70 games with the Coyotes in 2019-20. He totaled 39-80-119 and 56 PIM in 224 games with Arizona over three seasons.
This 2021 second round draft choice was previously acquired by the Senators from the Columbus Blue Jackets on Feb. 23, 2019.
