Saturday's Hotstove Tonight was jam-packed with rumors and scuttlebutt

06/02/2013 at 12:25am EDT

The CBC's Hotstove Tonight crew provided a particularly juicy set of Saturday evening tidbits, seguing from the Bruins-Penguins game's cheap-shot-ness to competition committee news, with Kevin Weeked, Elliotte Friedman and Glenn Healy stating that hybrid icing will be discussed, that the NHLPA will probably allow visors to be grandfathered in (they're voting on the issue this weekend) and that, according to Healy, goalies' thigh rises may be decreased by 10%; Friedman stated that it is entirely possible that Tim Thomas may make a comeback during the 2013-2014 season, but may choose to play in Europe; Patrick Roy confirmed that the Avs would trade the #1 draft pick but don't want to drop lower than 3rd overall sans a gigantic return; and in the coaching rumor department, Willie Desjardins, Paul Maurice and Dallas Eakins are all in the rumor mix, Friedman stated that Glen Gulutzan will interview with Vancouver, Eakins will interview with New York, and the Rangers may or may not have spoken to Mark Messier, who turned down a request by the Oilers to coach the team this past season due to family reasons, and Alain Vingeault is out there as well...And yes, the Islanders may consider moving DiPietro. Whew!
