Patrick Roy Fined $10K For Outburst Last Night

added 3:19pm, from Adrian Dater of the Denver Post,

Roy, who was not suspended, said he was informed of the fine by NHL director of hockey operations Colin Campbell.

Roy got into a heated shouting match with Anaheim coach Bruce Boudreau in the final seconds of the Avs' 6-1 victory and also shoved the glass partition separating the team's benches twice.

Boudreau after the game called Roy's actions "classless" and said he initially approached Roy near the glass partition because Roy was yelling at his players.

Roy fired back at Boudreau after Avs practice Thursday.

"What Boudreau said was all lies," Roy said. "I don't talk to players, I respect all the players. I'm certainly not going to get too involved in this one, but when you talk about classless — when you're lying, this is classless."

Once they go on a losing streak this will just build up inside him till he starts REALLY losing is.  Like punching Pee-air losing it.

A two fer! Roy goes Woody Hayes and gets run out of hockey. Pee Aire gets puched in the throat and can’t broadcast anymore. That’s a win-win all around.

Respecting players? Like telling poor little Katy Perry what he can do with himself?

That’s sort of amusing though.

Good point hah, with all the talk from the Ducks this summer telling everyone the had a point to prove, wanted to get the bad taste out of their mouths from the playoff loss to the Wings, and then they put up a performance like that last night?

Here’s Patrick Roy not talking to players and respecting all players like he told the Denver Post he does at the same time he was calling Bruce Boudreau a liar.

NEW YORK (October 3, 2013) —The National Hockey League has fined Colorado Avalanche head coach Patrick Roy $10,000 for his actions at the end of NHL Game No. 6 against the Anaheim Ducks in Denver on Wednesday, Oct. 2.

“Roy’s actions at the conclusion of the game were irresponsible,” said NHL Senior Executive Vice President of Hockey Operations Colin Campbell. “One of the responsibilities of an NHL coach is to help diffuse volatile situations on the bench.”

The fine money goes to the NHL Foundation.

This is almost enough to make me regret the Wings leaving the western conference.  I am so very envious of the fans of teams who get to play the Avalanche many times a year.

Roy thinks he can bring his circus clown junior hockey bullshit to the NHL.

Its bush league amateur hour. Was Roy really thinking that Boudreau was going to trade punches with him? It might work in major juniors and the minors but in the NHL, it looks a bit silly and unprofessional. Coaches should be above that. The league should have suspended his ass to make the point that this kind of conduct is unacceptable.
