NHL MORNING SKATE

MONDAY’S RESULT
Home Team in Caps

Columbus 3, TORONTO 2 (OT)

PANARIN ENDS BLUE JACKETS’ LATE RALLY WITH OT GOAL
Columbus erased a 2-0 deficit in the final 4:35 of regulation and Artemi Panarin scored in overtime – after Sergei Bobrovsky (36 saves) made a game-saving breakaway stop – to lift the Blue Jackets (25-16-3, 53 points) to victory. It marked the 11th victory beyond regulation this season for the Blue Jackets (6 OT W, 5 SO W), tops in the League.

* Elias notes that the Blue Jackets overcame a two-goal deficit in the final five minutes of regulation to win for the just fourth time in franchise history. The others: Jan. 5, 2007 at ANA, Dec. 1, 2011 at CGY and Mar. 22, 2016 vs. PHI.

* The Blue Jackets became the first team this season to win after trailing by two goals in the final five minutes of the third period. Via Elias, there were three such instances in 2016-17: the Blackhawks (Oct. 22, 2016 vs. TOR), Flyers (Oct. 25, 2016 vs. BUF) and Ducks (Dec. 7, 2016 vs. CAR) all achieved the feat.

* Seth Jones collected an assist on both the tying and winning goals to move within two points of reaching the 30-point mark for the second straight season (7-21—28). Jones, who established a career high with 12-30—42 in 2016-17 (75 GP), has collected at least one point in nine of his last 11 contests (3-9—12).

DIVISION LEADERS ON DISPLAY
Three of four division leaders will be in action on Tuesday when the Lightning (Atlantic), Capitals (Metropolitan) and Jets (Central) all take the ice:

* The League-leading Lightning (30-9-3, 63 points) – who on Sunday established a franchise record for fewest games to 30 wins in a season (42 GP) – host the Hurricanes (19-14-8, 46 points) at Amalie Arena. Tampa Bay has held first place in the entire NHL since Nov. 28 and boasts the League leader for goals (tied) and points in forward Nikita Kucherov (27-32—59 in 42 GP) as well as the NHL’s wins and shutouts leader in goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy (26-6-2; 6 SO).

* The Capitals (26-13-3, 55 points) will look to win five consecutive games for the first time this season when they host the Canucks (16-20-6, 38 points) at Capital One Arena. Washington recorded five different winning streaks of at least five games during the 2016-17 campaign en route to the team’s second consecutive Presidents' Trophy. The Capitals have also won nine consecutive games on home ice – the only NHL team without a home loss of any kind since the beginning of December.

* The Jets (25-11-7, 57 points) – who hold a two-point advantage over the Blues (26-16-3, 55 points) in the Central Division – visit the Sabres at KeyBank Center in Buffalo. Winnipeg is in search of its third consecutive victory and looks to extend its point streak to seven games (5-0-1). Blake Wheeler (14-36—50 in 43 GP) leads all Jets skaters in scoring and enters Tuesday’s contest on a six-game point streak (5-4—9).
