CANADIENS ATTEMPT TO EVEN SERIES WITH LIGHTNING
The Canadiens visit the Lightning at Amalie Arena in Game 6 of their Second Round series. After dropping the first three contests to Tampa Bay (and eight straight dating to the regular season), Montreal has won the past two – the first time it has ever forced a Game 6 when trailing a best-of-seven series 3-0. The Canadiens, who were outscored 10-4 in the opening three games, have outscored the Lightning 8-3 over the past two contests. Montreal goaltender Carey Price also has stopped 46 of 49 shots (.939 SV%) in those two wins, compared to 68 of 78 (.872 SV%) in the three losses. The Lightning have not lost three consecutive games (in regulation or overtime/shootout) at any point this season; they last had such a run in the opening round of the 2014 Stanley Cup Playoffs, when they were swept by the Canadiens. Tampa Bay also led the NHL and set a franchise record with 32 home victories during the regular season; Montreal shared third in the League with 24 wins as visitors.

DID YOU KNOW?
Courtesy of the Elias Sports Bureau:

* 183 teams have taken a 3-0 lead in a best-of-seven series in the Stanley Cup Playoffs (not including the TBL-MTL series).

* Clubs that take a 3-0 lead hold an all-time series record of 179-4 (97.8%), including a 3-0 mark this year.

* Only nine teams have forced a Game 7 when trailing a best-of-seven series 3-0 (4.9%).

* Four teams have overcome a 3-0 deficit to ultimately win a series (2.2%), including two in the past six years: the 1942 Maple Leafs (F vs. DET), 1975 Islanders (1975 QF vs. PIT), 2010 Flyers (CSF vs. BOS) and 2014 Kings (FR vs. SJS).

* Prior to this series, the Canadiens had never even forced a Game 6 when trailing a best-of-seven series 3-0 (in 10 previous instances).

WHAT THEY’RE SAYING
“Right now there’s no Game 7 in our plans. We want to knock this team out in Game 6 at home.” – Lightning head coach Jon Cooper

“[The Lightning] have all the pressure, definitely. We were in the same position in the First Round [against the Senators]. We had a 3-0 lead in the series and they took us to six games. The fourth game is always the hardest to win.” – Canadiens head coachMichel Therrien

“For whatever reason we haven’t gotten angry until now. But it’s time. We have to have fire. Montreal has a lot of guys with that fire right now . . . You have to play like your backs are against the wall, leave everything on the ice. I don’t think we’ve done that for this entire series and that’s very uncharacteristic for our team.” – Lightning forwardTyler Johnson

“We felt like we played solid hockey all series and weren’t rewarded for it. The last couple of games, we’ve played hard and found ways to win.” – Canadiens goaltenderCarey Price

“When you are up like we were 3-0, you talk about wanting to finish them off, but they are playing desperate hockey. So for us, just don’t panic. Go out there and play the game we have been playing all season long, make plays and whatever happens, just play with that desperation we played with in the third period [on Saturday] and everything should take care of itself.” – Lightning captain Steven Stamkos

“There’s pressure on both teams, no matter which city you’re playing in, no matter which crowd. It’s the playoffs. Everyone’s watching. [The Stanley Cup] is the hardest trophy to win in sports and it’s that way for a reason.” – Canadiens forward Max Pacioretty

“We have to show that we have urgency [tonight]. It’s the mentality we should have had in Game 4 and Game 5. Because whenever you can close out a team you should do it. Just thinking about jumping back on a plane and going back to Montreal makes it easier to show more urgency in Game 6. None of us want to go back there.” – Lightning forward Alex Killorn

“It’s a pretty intense series. It’s a little weird, and the way they took the lead was pretty weird, too. We didn’t know what really happened to us. But I’m proud of the boys, the way we stuck together after that. We could have got deflated easily, but we didn’t. It’s pretty fun right now. We’re enjoying the ride and we hope we can keep it going [tonight].” – Canadiens forward Pierre-Alexandre Parenteau
