Tampa Bay 3, DETROIT 2 (OT) – series tied 2-2

JOHNSON SPARKS (AND CAPS) LATE LIGHTNING RALLY
Tyler Johnson scored with 5:26 remaining in regulation, collected the primary assist on the tying goal 1:17 later and then recorded the decisive tally 2:25 into overtime to help the Lightning overcome a late 2-0 deficit and even their series with the Red Wings at two games apiece.

* Via Elias, the Lightning won a playoff game in which they trailed by two goals in the third period for the first time in franchise history.

* Elias says the Lightning also became the fourth team to defeat the Red Wings in Detroit when trailing by two or more goals in the third period of a postseason game (DET: 137-4 all-time in that scenario). The others to accomplish that feat: the Rangers on April 18, 1950 (Game 4 of F), the Canadiens on April 1, 1958 (Game 4 of SF) and the Sharks on May 4, 2010 (Game 3 of CSF).

* DID YOU KNOW?: One contest during the opening round of the 2014 Stanley Cup Playoffs featured a similar late-game comeback. On April 27, the Ducks scored twice in the final 2:10 of regulation to force overtime, where Nick Bonino potted the series-clinching goal in a 5-4 victory at DAL.

* Johnson recorded his second multi-goal performance of the series (other in Game 2: 2-0—2). His three points established a single-game playoff high (8 GP).

* Johnson notched his first career game-winning goal in the postseason. Each of his last three decisive goals (dating to the regular season) have come in overtime – also March 10 at MTL and April 9 vs. NJD.

* Overall, Johnson set career highs and shared the team lead with 29-43—72 and six game-winning goals during the regular season (tied for both w/ Steven Stamkos). He also ranked third in the NHL with a +33 rating.

* The Lightning improved to 9-7 all-time in playoff overtime games, including a 7-3 record on the road.

* The Lightning picked up their fourth victory in their past seven visits to Joe Louis Arena dating to Nov. 9, 2013 (regular season and playoffs). Prior to that stretch, the team earned just one win in its first 15 all-time trips to The Motor City (1-13-1).

60 MINUTES IS NOT ENOUGH
The Lightning and Red Wings contested the ninth overtime game of the 2015 Stanley Cup Playoffs (35 GP) – and the first in their series.

* Six of the eight First Round series have required at least one overtime game (all but MIN-STL and CGY-VAN). In 2013, all 15 series in the Stanley Cup Playoffs featured at least one overtime game – a first since the NHL went to the best-of-seven format for all four rounds in 1987. Last year, 14 of the 15 total series included at least one overtime game.

FORSBERG’S HAT TRICK HELPS PREDATORS FORCE GAME 6 . . .
Powered by a hat trick from Filip Forsberg, the Predators broke a 1-1 deadlock with four goals in the third period to stave off elimination and force a Game 6 against the Blackhawks.

* The Predators forced a Game 6 when trailing 3-1 in a best-of-seven series for the second time in franchise history (in five all-time scenarios). The only other time they did so was in the 2011 Western Conference Semifinals vs. VAN, when they won Game 5 by a 4-3 margin before ultimately being eliminated in six contests.

* Forsberg became the first player in Predators history to record a postseason hat trick. Via Elias, he also became the third player in the last four years to post a playoff hat trick before his 21st birthday. The others: Flyers forward Sean Couturier (April 13, 2012 vs. PIT) and Senators forward Jean-Gabriel Pageau (May 5, 2013 vs. MTL).

* Elias notes that Forsberg became the fourth rookie in the past 70 years to score three goals in a playoff game in which his team faced elimination. The others to do so: Flyers forward Rosaire Paiement (April 13, 1968 vs. STL), Kings forward Tommy Williams (April 14, 1974 vs. CHI) and Canucks forward Pavel Bure (April 28, 1992 at WPG).

* Forsberg led the Predators and ranked third among rookies with 26-37—63 during the regular season, setting franchise rookie records in all three scoring categories.

* The Predators broke the 1-1 deadlock with three goals in the opening 3:14 of the third period – by James Neal (1-1—2), Colin Wilson and Forsberg. Wilson and Forsberg scored 12 seconds apart; Elias says it marked the third-fastest pair of goals in Predators playoff history. The two faster instances came in consecutive games during the 2008 Western Conference Quarterfinals vs. DET. In Game 2, Alexander Radulov andJordin Tootoo scored 11 seconds apart. In Game 3, Ryan Suter and Jason Arnottscored nine seconds apart.

* Wilson notched his fifth goal of the series to establish a franchise record. He had one goal in 11 career postseason appearances prior to 2015 and just one tally in his final 22 games of the 2014-15 regular season.

* Pekka Rinne made 28 saves to improve to 27-9-4 with a 2.14 goals-against average, .920 save percentage and two shutouts in 40 appearances this season at Bridgestone Arena (regular season and playoffs).

. . . BONINO, D. SEDIN DO THE SAME FOR CANUCKS
The Flames grabbed the lead less than three minutes after the opening face-off, butNick Bonino potted the tying goal late in the second period and Daniel Sedin scored the decisive marker early in the third to help the Canucks force a Game 6.

* The Canucks forced a Game 6 when trailing 3-1 in a best-of-seven series for the seventh time in franchise history (in 10 all-time scenarios). They have advanced in three of those previous instances: in the 1992 DSF vs. WPG, the 1994 CQF vs. CGY and the 2003 CQF vs. STL.

* In 1994, the Canucks also trailed the Flames 3-1 in their opening-round series before posting three consecutive overtime wins – courtesy of Geoff Courtnall, Trevor Lindenand Pavel Bure – en route to a trip to the Stanley Cup Final.

* D. Sedin registered his sixth career playoff game-winning goal and first since May 9, 2011 at NSH. His six such goals are tied for second in franchise history, one behindCliff Ronning.

* Overall, D. Sedin has 25-45—70 in 101 career postseason contests (all w/ VAN). His 25 playoff goals are one shy of matching Courtnall for third in franchise history.

* Bonino added his eighth career playoff goal and first in a Canucks uniform (1-2—3 in 5 GP). He compiled 7-5—12 in 24 postseason contests with the Ducks from 2011-14.

* In his first start of the 2015 Stanley Cup Playoffs, Ryan Miller made 20 saves to earn his 28th career postseason victory and first with the Canucks.

* The Canucks have won their last two home games after dropping seven straight postseason contests at Rogers Arena dating to Game 7 of the 2011 Stanley Cup Final.

KUZNETSOV, CAPITALS TAKE CONTROL OF SERIES
Led by 2-1—3 from Evgeny Kuznetsov, the Capitals scored five unanswered goals to overcome an early 1-0 deficit and take a 3-2 lead in their series with the Islanders.

* Elias says Kuznetsov, who was mic’d up for his first goal, tied a Capitals rookie record for points in a playoff game. Only two other rookies in franchise history have notched three-point postseason games: Sergei Gonchar (2-1—3 on May 6, 1995 at PIT) andRichard Zednik (2-1—3 on May 28, 1998 at BUF).

* Kuznetsov, who entered the game with zero points in his first four playoff appearances, also became the third rookie in Capitals history to score his first two career postseason goals in the same game. The others: Gonchar (May 6, 1995 at PIT) and Marcus Johansson (April 20, 2011 vs. NYR).

* Karl Alzner (1-1—2) added his first career multi-point playoff game, including the tiebreaking goal midway through the second period. He has 2-1—3 in five games this postseason, compared to 1-4—5 in his first 31 career playoff outings.

* Jason Chimera (1-1—2), Jay Beagle (0-2—2) and Johansson (0-2—2) also recorded multiple points, while Brooks Laich supplied the other goal.

* Braden Holtby made 22 saves to improve to 9-3-2 with a 2.06 goals-against average and .936 save percentage in 14 career appearances vs. NYI (regular season and playoffs). That includes a 1.68 goals-against average and .945 save percentage so far in this series.

DID YOU KNOW?
All four games on Thursday saw the winning team overcome a deficit of at least one goal, including a multi-goal comeback by the Lightning in the third period.

* Through 35 games in the 2015 Stanley Cup Playoffs, Elias says there have been 17 contests in which a team has overcome at least a one-goal deficit to win. Three of those games have featured a multi-goal comeback (also Game 1 of CHI-NSH and Game 2 of NYI-WSH).
