RED WINGS SOAR TO TOP OF EAST
Tomas Tatar (1-2—3) matched a career-high with three points (Jan. 17 vs. NSH) and PetrMrazek stopped 22 shots to guide the Red Wings to their third straight victory and propel the club into first place in the Eastern Conference.

* At 31-12-9 (71 points), the Red Wings leapfrogged the Lightning (33-16-5, 71 points) – who lost in regulation against Los Angeles – for the No. 1 seed in the Atlantic Division and Eastern Conference. Detroit holds two games in hand, but Tampa Bay owns the ROW tiebreaker (TBL: 31, DET: 29).

* Tatar is tied for second on the club with 23-16—39 in 52 GP, matching a career high set in 73 games last season (19-20—39). His team-leading 23rd goal was his sixth game-winner, placing him one off the League-lead shared by four players.

* Mrazek improved to 8-1-0 in 10 starts since Jimmy Howard was injured on Jan. 10, matching his win total from his first 20 career games (8-8-1). Overall, he is 13-4-1 with a 2.42 goals-against average and .914 save percentage in 19 appearances this season.

* Darren Helm (1-1—2) posted his fourth multi-point game of 2014-15. He has 3-1—4 in his last four outings and is one goal shy of matching his career-high of 12, established in 2010-11 and equaled last season.

* Pavel Datsyuk stretched his assist/point streak to four games (0-4—4) to bring his career point total versus Arizona to 15-44—59 in 44 GP. He shares second on the club in both assists (24) and points (39) despite playing in only 41 games.

SUBBAN, DESHARNAIS IGNITE CANADIENS
Six different players recorded multiple points – including three assists by both P.K. Subban and DavidDesharnais – and the Canadiens scored three goals in each of the final two periods to snap a two-game skid and close their homestand with a 2-2-0 record.

* The Canadiens (33-15-3, 69 points) climbed into the No. 3 seed in the Eastern Conference behind a pair of Atlantic Division rivals, the Red Wings (31-12-9, 71 points) and Lightning (33-16-5, 71 points). Montreal holds one game in hand on Detroit and three on Tampa Bay, but trail both clubs in the ROW tiebreaker (TBL: 31, DET: 29, MTL: 28).

* Subban (0-3—3) matched a career high for assists in one game, achieved six previous times, most recently on Jan. 2 at New Jersey. According to the Elias Sports Bureau, Subban assisted on all three power-play goals Montreal scored in the second period, the first Canadiens player to record three power-play assists in one period since Saku Koivu recorded three power-play helpers in the first period of a 5-3 victory over the Capitals on Feb. 20, 2007.

* Desharnais (0-3—3) also equaled a career high for assists/points in a game, last achieved on Dec. 31, 2013 at CAR (0-3—3).

* Carey Price made 21 saves to register his 207th career win and move within one of tying BillDurnan for fourth on the franchise’s all-time list. Price ranks among the NHL's top five this season in wins (28 – 3rd), save percentage (.931 – 1st) and goals-against average (2.06 – 2nd).

PREDATORS REGAIN CONTROL IN CENTRAL
Mike Ribeiro broke a 2-2 deadlock at 12:46 of the third period to lift the Predators to their first home win over the Rangers since Feb. 28, 2004.

* The Predators (34-12-6, 74 points) took sole possession of first place in the Central Division and moved within one point of the League-leading Anaheim Ducks (34-12-7, 75 points). Nashville has one game in hand and owns the ROW tiebreaker over Anaheim (NSH: 30, ANA: 27).

* The Predators won for the tenth time in their last 11 games at Bridgestone Arena. Nashville (21-3-1) is tied with Tampa Bay (21-5-1) for most home wins and home points (43) this season.

* Roman Josi (1-1—2) and Shea Weber (1-0—1) scored 41 seconds apart late in the second period. Josi (10-27—37 in 52 GP) and Weber (12-24—36 in 52 GP) rank third and fourth (tied), respectively, in Predators scoring. Josi equaled a career high in assists and is within three goals/points of matching personal bests in those categories, all achieved in 2013-14 (13-27—40 in 72 GP). According to the Elias Sports Bureau, the Predators lead all NHL teams with 36 goals from defensemen and have won all 11 home games this season in which one of their blueliners scores a goal.

* Ribeiro notched his 31st career game-winning goal to reach 700 career points (213-487—700 in 917 GP). He ranks second on the club with 11-33—44 in 52 GP.

* Pekka Rinne made 30 saves to record his League-leading 30th win (39 GP), reaching the mark for the fourth time in his career and first since 2011-12 when he collected a career-high 43 victories (73 GP). He also leads the NHL in goals-against average (2.02) and ranks second in save percentage (.929). According to the Elias Sports Bureau, Rinne (26 ROW, 4 in SO) is the fastest – in terms of games played – to record 30 wins since the NHL adopted the shootout in 2005-06. Only two other goaltenders have recorded 30 wins in 39 games or fewer in the NHL’s expansion era: Eddie Johnston of the Boston Bruins (1970-71) and Chris Osgood of the Detroit Red Wings (1995-96), both in 38 games.

* Filip Forsberg stretched his assist/point streak to four games (0-5—5). He continues to lead NHL rookies with 17-30—47.

DUBNYK, WILD (AGAIN) STYMIE OPPONENTS
Devan Dubnyk (18 saves) recorded his 13th career shutout to guide the Wild to their second straight blank sheet (3-0 vs. CHI on Tuesday) and their third shutout in three meetings with the Avalanche this season.

* Minnesota has won five straight games and improved to 7-1-1 since Dubnyk’s debut on Jan. 15. At 25-20-6 (56 points), the Wild kept pace with the Canucks (29-19-3, 61 points) in the race for the final Wild Card spot in the Western Conference.

* Dubnyk has posted a 7-1-0 record with a 1.31 goals-against average, .948 save percentage and four shutouts in nine games with the Wild. He has three shutouts in his last four appearances and five overall this season (Nov. 14 at VAN w/ ARI). According to the Elias Sports Bureau, Dubnyk (9 GP) is the fastest to post four shutouts with a club among goalies who debuted in the expansion era (1967-68 or later).

* Per Elias, the Wild have shut out the same opponent in three consecutive meetings in one season for the first time in franchise history. The only other time the club posted three blank sheets against one opponent in a season was 2006-07 (three in eight meetings vs. EDM). Elias also says the Wild are the first team to record three straight shutouts against the same opponent in a single season since 2007-08 (Three each for DET vs. COL and SJS vs. ARI).

* Charlie Coyle scored his fourth game-winning goal of the season (51 GP), matching his total from his first 107 career games.

MILLER HELPS CANUCKS BLANK PENS (AGAIN)
Ryan Miller turned aside all 31 shots he faced to help the Canucks earn a 5-0 win over the Penguins. The Canucks blanked the Penguins in both meetings this season, following Eddie Lack’s 22-save performance on Dec. 4 at CONSOL Energy Center. Prior to this season, Kirk McLean had the only Canucks shutout in 108 all-time meetings between the clubs (5-0 W, Feb. 17, 1988).

* The Canucks (29-19-3, 61 points) leapfrogged the idle Flames (29-21-3, 61 points) into third place in the Pacific Division and moved within two points of the second-place Sharks (28-19-7, 63 points) – who lost in regulation to Carolina. Vancouver has multiple games in hand on both clubs and holds the ROW tiebreaker (VAN: 27, SJS/CGY: 26).

* Miller is tied for second in the League with six blank sheets this season (39 GP), equaling his career high set in 2011-12 (61 GP). He registered his 35th career shutout to tie Pekka Rinne for fifth among active goaltenders.

* Alexandre Burrows (1-1—2) and Radim Vrbata (0-2—2) each notched multiple points for the Canucks. Vrbata eclipsed 500 career points (235-266—501 in 840 GP) and now has 2-4—6 in his last five outings.

* The Canucks have recorded points in 15 of 22 meetings with Eastern Conference opponents this season, including a 9-1-0 record against Metropolitan Division foes.

BRUINS KEEP PACE IN ATLANTIC RACE
Tuukka Rask turned aside 39 shots – four shy of his season-high – to backstop the Bruins to their first win in their last four home meetings with the Islanders and to an 8-1-3 mark in their last 12 overall at TD Garden.

* With the victory, the Bruins (28-17-7, 63 points) kept pace in the Atlantic Division and moved within one point of the Rangers (30-16-4, 64 points) for the first Wild Card spot in the Eastern Conference.

* Rask registered his 23rd win of the season to improve to 11-2-4 in his last 17 decisions. He is 8-3-0 with a 2.34 goals-against average and .930 save percentage in 12 career appearances against the Islanders.
