RANTANEN ECLIPSES 30-POINT MARK, SCORES LAST-SECOND OVERTIME WINNER

Avalanche forward Mikko Rantanen collected two assists and scored with 1.3 seconds remaining in overtime to become the first player to eclipse the 30-point mark this season (8-24—32 in 20 GP).

* Rantanen became the eighth different player in Avalanche/Nordiques franchise history to reach the 30-point mark in the first 20 team games in a season and first to do so since Peter Forsberg and Joe Sakic in 1996-97 (20 GP). The only other Avalanche/Nordiques skaters who were the first NHL players to reach the 30-point mark in a season were Forsberg in 1997-98 and Sakic in 1998-99.

* Rantanen (4:58) scored the latest overtime goal of the season, eclipsing the previous mark set by Red Wings forward Dylan Larkin (4:54) on Nov. 9 (3-2 OT W vs. NYR). His tally was one second shy of the franchise record for latest regular-season overtime goal (4:59), a mark set by Matt Duchene on March 10, 2013 (3-2 OT W vs. SJS).

HURRICANES SCORE TWICE IN OPENING 30 SECONDS

The Hurricanes scored twice in the opening 30 seconds of their game against the Devils, including two goals in a span of eight seconds. Carolina became the sixth team in NHL history to score twice in the opening 30 seconds of a regular-season game, a feat last achieved by San Jose on April 4, 2017 vs. VAN.

Hurricanes captain Justin Williams scored his 99th career goal with Carolina, his second-highest total with one franchise (103 w/ LAK). He can become the ninth player in NHL history to score 100 or more career regular-season goals with multiple franchises and capture at least one Stanley Cupwith each club.

THREE-POINT OUTINGS POWER STARS, GOLDEN KNIGHTS TO WINS

* Alexander Radulov (2-1—3), Tyler Seguin (1-2—3) and Jamie Benn (0-3—3) each collected three points to lead the Stars past the Islanders. Benn recorded at least three points in a game for the 47th time in his NHL career (all w/ DAL), whereas Seguin did so for the 31st time since being acquired by Dallas on July 4, 2013. The pair rank among the top 10 for most games with at least three points in Stars/North Stars franchise history.

* Jonathan Marchessault (2-1—3), Reilly Smith (1-2—3) and Colin Miller (0-3—3) each recorded three points to lift the Golden Knights past the Oilers. Marchessault registered at least three points in a regular-season game for the eighth time since being selected by the Golden Knights in the 2017 NHL Expansion Draft, tied for the most such outings in franchise history (w/ William Karlsson).
