HURRICANES RECORD 40 SHOTS ON GOAL FOR 11TH TIME THIS SEASON

Carolina tallied twice in a span of 1:06 to erase a 2-0 deficit in the second period and Sebastian Aho (1-1—2) scored the overtime winner as the Hurricanes defeated the Blackhawks in goaltender Cam Ward’s return to PNC Arena.

* The Hurricanes recorded 40 shots on goal. Their total of 750 is the most by a team through the first 18 games in a season since 1955-56 when shots on goal became an official NHL statistic, 10 more than the Bruins in 1970-71 (740).

* Carolina recorded at least 40 shots on goal in a game for the 11th time this season. Only one team registered more such outings through their first 18 games in a season since 1955-56: Boston in 1970-71 (12x).

LUNDQVIST CLIMBS ALL-TIME WINS LIST AS RANGERS EXTEND POINT STREAK

Brett Howden scored the go-ahead goal with 8:41 remaining in regulation as the Rangers extended their point streak to seven games (6-0-1), including a 3-0-0 record at Madison Square Garden. New York earned at least one point in seven or more consecutive games in a regular season for the first time since Oct. 18 – Nov. 15, 2015 (11-0-2).

* Henrik Lundqvist made 25 saves to earn the 437th regular-season win of his NHL career and tie Jacques Plante for seventh place on the League’s all-time list among goaltenders.

DID YOU KNOW?

Rangers teammates Brett Howden (20 years old) and Filip Chytil (19 years old) each scored on Monday. It marked the first time two different Rangers players under the age of 21 each scored at least one goal in a regular-season game since Oct. 16, 1996, when Daniel Goneau (20 years old) and Christian Dube (19 years old) did so.

DUCKS SNAP PREDATORS’ SEASON-OPENING ROAD WIN STREAK

John Gibson made 34 saves through 65 minutes – including 10 in overtime – and denied three shootout attempts as the Ducks snapped the Predators’ season-opening road win streak at eight games.

* Gibson improved to 99-61-23 in 193 career appearances (all w/ ANA) and moved within one regular-season win of becoming the fourth goaltender to record at least 100 with the franchise, in which he would join Jean-Sebastien Giguere (206), Guy Hebert (173) and Jonas Hiller(162).

BOBROVSKY BACKSTOPS BLUE JACKETS PAST STARS

Sergei Bobrovsky made 26 saves to help the Blue Jackets improve to 7-0-0 in their last seven games against the Stars dating to Dec. 29, 2015 (DAL: 0-5-2).

* Bobrovsky improved to 3-0-0 in his last three appearances dating to Nov. 6 (1.00 GAA, .966 SV%), allowing just one goal in each contest. His 84 regular-season wins since 2016-17 lead all NHL goaltenders in that span (84-45-11 in 140 GP).

SNEAK PEEK AT TUESDAY’S ACTION

HOFFMAN, DADONOV LOOK TO EXTEND POINT STREAKS

Florida teammates Mike Hoffman (7-7—14 in 12 GP) and Evgenii Dadonov (6-7—13 in 11 GP) each look to extend their career-high point streak when the Panthers (6-5-3, 15 points) visit the Flyers (9-7-1, 19 points) at Wells Fargo Center.

* Hoffman can match the franchise record for longest point streak, a mark set by Pavel Bure from March 10 – April 5, 2000 (12-9—21 in 13 GP). His current point streak of 12 games is tied for the longest such run in the NHL this season (w/ Sebastian Aho from Oct. 4-30).

* Dadonov leads the Panthers with 16 points this season (7-9—16 in 14 GP). Hoffman and Dadonov can become the first set of teammates to record simultaneous point streaks of at least 12 games since Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin did so from Oct. 23 – Nov. 17, 2007 (13 GP w/ PIT).

RED WINGS CAN JOIN RARE COMPANY WITH ANOTHER COMEBACK WIN

The Red Wings (7-8-2, 16 points) look to extend their win streak to four games when they host the Coyotes (8-7-1, 17 points) at Little Caesars Arena.

* Detroit has overcome a multi-goal deficit in each contest of its three-game win streak. The Red Wings can become the second team in NHL history to rally from a multi-goal deficit to win four consecutive regular-season games, in which they would join the Hurricanes from Oct. 24-29, 2005 (4 GP).

WILD AIM TO EXTEND SEASON-OPENING HOME POINT STREAK

The Wild (11-4-2, 24 points) look to extend their season-opening home point streak to eight games when they host the Capitals (7-6-3, 17 points) at Xcel Energy Center. Minnesota can match its franchise record for longest season-opening home point streak, a mark set from Oct. 5 – Nov. 2, 2006 (8-0-0).
