PENGUINS DEFEAT GOLDEN KNIGHTS IN FLEURY’S RETURN

Five different skaters found the back of the net to help the Penguins (30-22-3, 63 points) defeat the Western Conference-leading Golden Knights(35-14-4, 74 points) in Marc-Andre Fleury’s first game in Pittsburgh as a visiting goaltender. The Penguins earned their eighth consecutive victory at PPG Paints Arena, their longest home win streak since a franchise-record 13-game run in 2013-14 (13-0-0 from Nov. 15 – Jan. 15).

* Evgeni Malkin (1-1—2) scored for the fifth consecutive game (9-4—13) and reached the 30-goal mark for the sixth time in his NHL career (all w/ PIT). Malkin became the second player to record 30 goals this season, joining Washington’s Alex Ovechkin (32).

* Sidney Crosby, meanwhile, collected two assists to reach the 60-point mark for the fifth consecutive season and 11th time in his NHL career (all w/ PIT). Only Mario Lemieux (12) has registered more seasons with at least 60 points in franchise history.

* Phil Kessel (1-1—2) extended his point streak to six games (3-8—11) and is second in the NHL with 24-41—65 overall this season (55 GP), trailing only Tampa Bay’s Nikita Kucherov (27-39—66 in 53 GP).

ICYMI: The Penguins presented Fleury with his 2017 Stanley Cup ring prior to Tuesday’s game.

AVALANCHE RECORD NINTH CONSECUTIVE HOME VICTORY

Jonathan Bernier made 38 saves and Tyson Jost (1-1—2) scored the game-winning goal in the second period as the Avalanche recorded their ninth consecutive victory at Pepsi Center, their third-longest home win streak in franchise history.

BRUINS, RASK EXTEND STREAKS

Tuukka Rask made 26 saves to help the Bruins (32-11-8, 72 points) extend their road point streak to 11 games (9-0-2), including five straight wins. Boston earned points in at least 11 consecutive road games for the sixth time in franchise history and first since a franchise-record 16-game run in 2013-14 (13-0-3 from Jan. 11 – March 30).

* Rask improved to 19-0-2 in his last 21 decisions dating to Nov. 29 (1.61 GAA, .941 SV%, 2 SO). Rask became the 11th different goaltender in NHL history to earn at least one point in 21 consecutive decisions and fourth to do so with the Bruins.

* Rask owns an 8-0-0 mark in his last eight appearances and became the first Bruins goaltender to post a win streak of at least eight games since Tim Thomas in 2011-12 (10-0-0 from Nov. 1 – Dec. 5). The franchise record for longest win streak by a goaltender is 14 games, a mark set by Tiny Thompson in 1929-30 (14-0-0 from Dec. 3 – Jan. 9).

JETS EXTEND POINT STREAK, EARN 20TH HOME WIN

Connor Hellebuyck made 21 saves to help the Jets (32-13-9, 73 points) extend their point streak to eight games (6-0-2) and reclaim first place in the Central Division standings.

* Winnipeg improved to 20-3-2 (42 points) at Bell MTS Place this season, including a 3-0-1 mark on its active 10-game homestand. The Jets lead the League with 20 home wins in 2017-18 (tied w/ PIT) and moved within four of matching their franchise record for most in a season (24 in 2005-06).

* Hellebuyck improved to 28-6-8 this season (2.32 GAA, .924 SV%, 5 SO) and trails only Tampa Bay’s Andrei Vasilevskiy (31) for the most wins among goaltenders. Hellebuyck extended his home point streak to nine games (8-0-1) and improved to 19-1-2 at Bell MTS Place overall (2.05 GAA .931 SV%, 4 SO), the most home wins in the NHL.

ANOTHER GAME-WINNING GOAL FOR MONAHAN

Sean Monahan (1-1—2) scored the game-winning goal for the second straight contest (also Feb. 3 vs. CHI) to help the Flames sweep their home-and-home set with the Blackhawks. Monahan leads the NHL with a career-high nine game-winning goals in 2017-18, three shy of the single-season franchise record set by Joe Mullen (12 in 1986-87).

LATE GOALS POWER CLUBS TO VICTORY

The Capitals (31-17-5, 67 points) and Flyers (25-19-9, 59 points) each secured victories on Tuesday via late goals:

* Nicklas Backstrom (1-1—2) scored the game winner with 42.9 seconds remaining in regulation – the 200th goal of his NHL career (all w/ WSH) – to lift the Metropolitan Division-leading Capitals past the Blue Jackets.

* Jordan Weal scored with 3.1 seconds remaining in overtime to power the Flyers over the Hurricanes. Philadelphia – who snapped a four-game slide (0-3-1) – leapfrogged two clubs to move into the first Wild Card position in the Eastern Conference standings.

TEAMS LOOK TO CONTINUE RECENT HOT STREAKS

The Predators (32-12-7, 71 points), Maple Leafs (31-19-5, 67 points) and Bruins (32-11-8, 72 points) all look to continue recent strings of success on Wednesday:

* The Predators – who trail only the Jets (32-13-9, 73 points) for most points in the Central Division and sit three back of the Golden Knights (35-14-4, 74 points) for the top record in the Western Conference – aim for their fourth consecutive victory when they visit the Maple Leafs at Air Canada Centre. Nashville owns a 9-1-1 record in its last 11 contests backstopped by goaltender Pekka Rinne, who owns a personal win streak of eight games (8-0-0, 1.85 GAA, .932 SV%, 2 SO).

* The Predators visit the Maple Leafs, who have won five of their past six contests and sit five points back of the Bruins for second place in the Atlantic Division. Toronto has outscored its opponents 24-11 over the past six contests with forward Nazem Kadri registering a six-game point streak over that span (3-5—8 in 6 GP).

* The Maple Leafs are chasing the Bruins – who visit the Rangers (25-23-5, 55 points) at Madison Square Garden – in the Atlantic Division standings. Boston enters the game with points in each of their last 11 road contests (9-0-2) and have received standout performances from goaltender Tuukka Rask, who became just the eleventh different goaltender in NHL history to record a point in 21 or more consecutive decisions (19-0-2), as well as forward David Pastrnak, who enters the contest on a nine-game point streak (4-7—11).
