NHL releases broadcast info for Sunday's draft, will air Hawks' Stanley Cup parade as well

NHL NETWORK, NHL.COM, AND NHL SOCIAL COVERAGE PLANS FOR 2013 NHL DRAFT WEEKEND

Highlights Include Special Edition Draft Recap Show, NHL.com Live Streams, Stanley Cup Champions Parade, and Twitter Takeovers

NEW YORK (June 27, 2013) – NHL Network™ and NHL.com will provide comprehensive coverage of the 2013 NHL Draft™ taking place at Prudential Center in Newark, N.J. All seven rounds of the Draft will take place on Sunday, June 30, starting at 3:00 p.m., ET. NBC Sports Network will present live coverage from 3:00-8:00 p.m., ET, in the U.S., TSN will televise the Draft live in Canada and RDS will present exclusive French-language coverage. In the U.S., NHL Network will provide continuing coverage starting at 8:00 p.m. ET.

Prior to the 2013 NHL Draft, the NHL Network in the U.S. and Canada will televise the Chicago Blackhawks’ 2013 Stanley Cup® Champions Parade live from Chicago on Friday, June 28, beginning at 10:00 a.m. ET. Viewers in Chicago can tune into CSN Chicago (local blackout will apply).

Starting Saturday, June 29 at 5:00 p.m., ET, Draft™ coverage first begins with the 2013 NHL Network Scouting Combine Recap Show hosted by NHL Tonight’s™ Mark Roe and former Calgary Flames General Manager and current NHL Network analyst Craig Button, who will take viewers deeper in to the evaluation process of the fitness and strength of the NHL’s future stars The recap show features one-on-one interviews with top-ranked prospects, all-access video with trainers and doctors and behind-the-scenes footage from the grueling VO2 (volume of oxygen) testing station.

Following the Combine recap show is a special edition of NHL Tonight: 2013 Mock Draft. Mark Roe, alongside Craig Button and two-time Stanley Cup champion Dave Reid, will make their picks for Sunday’s draft. They will have features, breakdowns and analysis of each team’s needs and strategies for filling those needs for the upcoming season.

Coverage continues on Sunday, June 30, at 1:00 p.m., ET with the 2013 NHL Draft Preview hosted by Kathryn Tappen who will be joined by analysts Craig Button, Dave Reid, EJ Hradek, and Mike Johnson, live from Prudential Center in Newark. The show will feature interviews with the projected top five Draft picks, player profiles and team draft histories, highlights of the crew’s mock draft and predictions, interviews with players, general managers, and scouts from the Draft floor and the latest NHL news and transactions.

Immediately following the conclusion of the 2013 NHL Draft on Sunday night, NHL Network’s Kathryn Tappen will host the 2013 NHL Draft Recap Show, including post-Draft reactions, highlights of the night, interviews, and analysis of picks.

On the Web, NHL.com will have wall-to-wall coverage of top Drafts prospects, live chats with selected players, mock drafts from experts, pick-by-pick coverage, video highlights of Draft picks addressing the media, and team-by-team reviews and post-draft analysis. Fans also will be able to view all results from their phones and tablets through the NHL GameCenter™ app. Live streams of the 2013 NHL Draft Preview and 2013 NHL Draft Recap Show also will be available on NHL.com. Starting today, June 27, fans can follow @NHL on Twitter and Instagram for behind-the-scenes access, including live tweets with prospects leading up to and throughout the NHL Draft on Sunday. On Friday, NHL Draft prospect Darnell Nurse (@drtwofive) will take over the @NHL’s Twitter account at 3:30pm ET. Fans can ask questions and follow the action using #AskDarnell. Also starting today, the NHL Instagram will be filled with top prospect content at events leading up to and the NHL Draft, including today’s visit to the Empire State Building with top prospects Seth Jones, Nathan MacKinnon, Jonathan Drouin, and Darnell Nurse.
