Morning Line

So the Penguins lose three in a row and now something is missing in Pittsburgh?  Did Watters feel the same just a week ago when the Pens were 7-1-0?

Paul, The Pens are an average team & if Sid & Gino aren’t in God Mode they do not win, Sid Demands that 2 Ham & Eggers Dupuis & Kunitz be his wingers

Shero Resigns Letard to a 7.25 M a Year Deal, Then Goes & sign Scuderi to a 4 yr. 3.5 M deal for a 34 yr Old D Man to babysit Letard, Sorry you pay a D Man 7+ M you don’t go out a& Spend another 3.5 M on a D Man to cover up all his Brain Farts

EP, you always say Sid demands Dupuis and Kunitz.  How do you know he demands them? He obviously likes playing with them, but perhaps it’s a Bylsma thing?  I love he and Kunitz together now despite the fact that Kunitz would be a 2nd liner on most teams, but Dupuis should really be a 3rd liner, maybe 2nd on a middling team.

because they were both resigned to ridiculous deals when they are 3rd Line Ham & Eggers at the expense of losing Cooke !

watch if the line is changed during a game like last night, the Very next game that line is back together others are changed but NEVER that Like, ECF’s That Line was Never changed & they sucked all 4 games

To elaborate further on the Pens They are a Poorly constructed team bottom 6 outside of Sutter is embarrassingly bad too much money spent on a few playerThey have 1 Legit top 6 Winger in Neal who has been out almost a Month from an injury suffered while Playing Whiffle ball on ice, Brilliant Clown Fart Inc. Brilliant

Perhaps they were re-signed and the line is kept together at the insurance of Shero and/or Bylsma?  I just don’t get all of the animosity toward Sid about it when there is no real evidence, that I’m aware of, that it is his doing.

The way I see it, if a bunch multimillionaires have to heart and soul to play and don’t give a crap, I don’t blame the coach.Heck, can you imagine as an employee if we refuse to work they would let go your boss? That would be nice….but to put it on the coach when the guys don’t show up AND you have Smith, Q, among others who are playing also like crap…..not the coach fault. Also, I would blame Holland for his stupid contracts we cannot get rid of. I am frustrated also…..but I would not fire the coach…..not now anyway

oh and question to evilpens…....since the Wings are not your team…would you fire Babs and/or Holland and would you like the same thing to happen to your team? Do you want babs as coach?

Babcock is responsible for the game plan. The system he has tried to implement has imploded for about 3 seasons now. I get the millionaires angle, but, do you really think these players want to lose? They follow the plan set forth by the Coach and his staff. It’s hasn’t produced results for years. We are running out of options here. Seems like the bottom dropped out when Bowman left, and, Babcocks assistants jumped ship.

He is also distracted by the Olympics. He gets paid to win Stanley Cups. Not Gold Medals. He has 1 Cup in 9 years, and, has had many of the best to ever play the game on the team and still come up short. I am not calling for him to be let go today. The end of this season will be fine with me.

Let’s Go Red Wings!!!!!

Good points. That being said players may not want to lose but refuse to put in the effort ( ex: a la Franzen). I agree with you that the players must follow the plan that is set out by the staff…but it would help if we can have a few players that can be more helpful (in my opinion, esp. on defense). That all being said, I do think that the coach will be let go and sooner than you think (they might wait after the Olympics…..well, if the team still has a chance to make it to the playoffs!!!)

Let us hope that all will be resolved in the next 4 games….. (a girl can dream LOL) smile

& actually more Pissed off with Shero & this Vaunted Capologist Guru/Asst. GM Jason Botterill who thinks it’s ok to sign Letard to a 7+ M deal & then Sign a 34 Yr. Old D Man Scuds to a 4 yr. 3.5 M a yr deal to Babysit & drafting D Men like crazy & not drafting Wingers

Who is Bill Waters besides a washed up Toronto Maple Leafs executive who was an Alan Eagleson lackey.  He can’t even hold a radio job so he has to resort to this.  Times mist be tough.

Certainly, this seems like an overreaction to a 3-game skid (not a big deal, the season is long). But if Watters, like myself, believed after last season, that Bylsma should’ve been replaced anyhow…

There are not many teams in the NHL that wouldn’t jump at the chance to bring Babcock in as their head coach if the opportunity arose. Honestly, other than Chicago, Boston, Ottawa, and the Sharks, every team in the league would be improving their coaching if they had a chance to get Babs. And even then, I think Babcock is definitively better than the coaches of those four teams… but you obviously wouldn’t replace coaches with recent Cup wins and appearances, and it would be a hard sell to the players to replace coaches that came from Babcock’s coaching tree anyhow.

I suppose you have other “exceptions” that have nothing to do with actual coaching—for example, it would be a bit of a PR bust for a team like the Avs to take a shot at Babcock if he were available, since they just signed up one of their legendary former players.
