FRISCO, Texas - Dallas Stars General Manager Jim Nill announced today that the club has signed center Martin Hanzal to a three-year, $14.25-million contract.

Hanzal, 30, split the 2016-17 campaign between Arizona and Minnesota combining for 39 points (20-19=39) in 71 regular-season games. He set a career-high with his 20 goals and tied his career-high with 169 shots. Additionally, his 56.4% faceoff percentage finished one-tenth of a percentage point off of tying his career-high set in 2014-15. In five Stanley Cup Playoff contests with Minnesota, he scored one goal and finished with a 57.3% faceoff percentage.

A veteran of ten NHL seasons with Arizona and Minnesota, he has compiled 326 points (121-205=326) in 628 career regular-season games. He has advanced to the postseason four times during his career, recording 13 points (5-8=13) in 28 games played.

"Martin is a very detailed player who competes at high level," said Nill. "He is one of the League's best centermen in the faceoff circle and his complete set of abilities will improve us in several facets of the game."

Hanzal has represented the Czech Republic several times at international events including the 2014 Winter Olympic Games, the 2016 World Cup of Hockey, two World Championships (2008, 2013), two U-20 World Junior Championships (2006, 2007) and the 2005 U-18 World Junior Championship.

The 6-foot-6, 226-pound native of Pisek, Czech Republic was originally selected by Arizona in the first round (17th overall) of the 2005 NHL Draft.
