The Tampa Bay Lightning have signed forward Reto Suri to a one-year contract, two-way contract, vice president and general manager Steve Yzerman announced today.
Suri, 24, skated in 46 games this past season with Zug of the Swiss National League A, recording 14 goals and 25 points to go along with 34 penalty minutes. The Zurich, Switzerland native ranked sixth on the team in goals and seventh in points. He averaged a point per game in the postseason with Zug in 14 games, registering nine goals and 14 points.
The 6-foot, 185-pound forward represented his native Switzerland in the 2013 IIHF World Championships, helping them win the Silver Medal. Suri tallied five goals and eight points in 10 games. He led all Swiss skaters with five goals and ranked tied for second on the team in points.
Suri led Rapperswil-Jona of the Swiss National League A in goals in both the 2010-11 and 2011-12 seasons. During the two seasons while playing for Rapperswil-Jona he recorded 28 goals and 53 points in 99 games. Suri also ranked in the top three in points during both seasons with Rapperswil-Jona.
