from Jose de Jesus Ortiz of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch,
For the second January in a row, the Blues have a goaltender controversy. Well, it’s not exactly a controversy as much as a serious problem as Allen struggles to play up to the superb ability he has displayed in the past.
January has not been kind to Allen the past two years, and he’s putting yet another Blues season in peril as a result....
Since Dec. 12, Allen is 1-8 with an amazing 25 goals against. That’s 2.77 goals allowed a game. He has given up 10 goals over his past two starts and 13 over his past three.
The goaltender who carried the Blues with an impressive postseason last year is suddenly coping through the same demons that derailed him last summer and ultimately cost Ken Hitchcock his job last February.
