from Jeremy Rutherford of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch,
With a chance to be the first NHL team to punch their playoff ticket in 2013-14, the Blues proved that they’re not quite ready.
Chicago, which improved to 11-1-3 on the second night of back-to-back games, recovered from an overtime loss in Philadelphia on Tuesday and polished off the Blues 4-0 in front of a crowd of 21,640 at United Center.
“Good wake-up call,” Blues coach Ken Hitchcock said. “They’re the Stanley Cup champions for a reason. They know when to turn the temperature up. No matter what happens in the regular season, everybody in the West, to even give (Chicago) a go, you’re going to have to dial it up. They’re getting ready and it’s up to us to get ready. That’s the task. They dialed it up and we didn’t play well.”...
The loss to the ’Hawks was the Blues’ first in regulation this season to a division opponent (20-1-2), and it marked the club’s first regulation loss with goaltender Ryan Miller in net (7-1-1).
