from Chris Lund of OttawaSenators.com,
The Sens announced today that the club has signed forward Colin Greening to a three-year contract extension. The 27 year old is entering the final year of a three-year contract signed at the conclusion of the 2010-11 season. Consequently, the extension takes effect beginning in 2014-15.
Greening overcame a slow start to the shortened 2013 season to finish his year with seven goals and 19 points in 47 games before a strong post-season. He was one of the Sens’ top performers in the playoffs, particularly against the Pittsburgh Penguins, as he recorded three goals and an assist in the five game series, including the game winning goal in the second overtime of game three.
As a big winger who can move all over the ice, Greening has shown his versatility for the Sens, operating in both a shutdown and scoring role with proficiency. As one of the more battle-tested veterans on a suddenly very young Sens team, expect 14 to play a key role for the team going forward in multiple situations.
Numerous reports state the AAV is $2.65M
