The John Klingberg-for-Norris Trophy campaign might be starting in the stands at American Airlines Center or in fan message boards around town, but not in the Stars' locker room.
The sophomore sensation had a goal and two assists Saturday to lead a 3-2 overtime victory against the Minnesota Wild and expand his NHL lead in scoring by defensemen to 20 points in 18 games. However, he said he's not even thinking about the Norris, give to the best defenseman in the NHL.
"No, not at all, it's way too early," said Klingberg, who is now tied for fourth overall in NHL scoring. "I'm just glad the team is winning and I'm playing well."
Those two statements are definitely true. Dallas moved to 14-4-0, the best start in franchise history after 18 games, and moved one more point ahead of the red-hot Wild, who fell to 10-3-3. And Klingberg was exceptional on Saturday.
