i would usually watch a Devils feed for this game.
Since I live in Delaware, that feed is blacked out.
The Capitals broadcast team,  play by play, and intermission, are totally consumed by the call on the hit.
They have made watching the game unbearable to watch.

Chasing the puck into the corner. Guy backs into him. Swerves to avoid a hit. Shoulder contact. Bogus call, total BS.
I hope Wilson’s goal stands as the game winner.

Pittsburgh fans cry and whine the most. At least the good guys won.

I’ll be wearing my Wilson jersey with pride at the game on Sunday afternoon.

Chris Ryan tweet,

Brett Seney said Tom Wilson’s hit got him in the shoulder and possibly in the back of the head. Happened fast enough where he wasn’t positive. He went through the concussion protocol and cleared before returning.

Isabelle Khurshudyan tweets,

Here’s what I can tell you on Wilson: he probs won’t get a hearing for an illegal check to the head because main point of contact was shoulder. But that hit was interference, and while league could take issue with that, suspensions for interference usually involve head contact.

Reirden usually a mellow dude. He’s fired up in this postgame presser about Wilson. Didn’t think it was a penalty. Didn’t think Wilson was even trying to make a hit.

He said it was “incidental contact.”

Doesn’t look like a headshot, but its damn sure a cheap shot.

Great, more drive-by trolling by “Thag” the mature individual who mocked Wilson’s hit on Zach Aston-Reece claiming the latter should have been the only one pernalized -for throwing his glove in anger and disgust immediately after being concussed and bloodied.

The worst kind of low-life fan: a guy who only shows up online in order to gloat about a player on his favorite team serially cheap-shotting and injuring opponents.

The league is going to have to give Wilson the Raffi Torres treatment sooner or later.
Given the DoPS and the especially the egregious decrease in his suspension by the
the same arbitrator who apparently also felt the league had been too harsh on Auston Watson.

Wilson gratuitously runs a guy high and from behind well after the puck is gone.

But good for Todd Reirden making a clown of himself pandering to his locker room.

We’ve seen repeatedly what Tom Wilson thinks playing the right way and hitting the right way means.
This is a guy who basically had his hand held by the DoPS and revived personalized gentle advice about how to avoid suspensions. There is no benefit of the doubt with that guy. None. If Wilson is truly such a talented hockey player you’d think he could manage to go a week without hitting an opponent high, late and blindside.

Wilson is entitled to that ice as much as the guy backskating into him was. Wilson could have avoided him, but his reputation precedes him in this instance and will make it out to be more than it is. Borderline interference. Absolutely not suspension worthy.

It was a pretty weak call, based more on reputation than what actually happened. Should have been 2 min for interference, maybe, end of story. Hope the DoPS don’t get on a crusade and further erode what little credibility they have with any kind of further discipline.

That is not even worthy of a game misconduct, and I’m all about not getting hit in the head.

Wilson didn’t change his lane, his position, or anything else about his body—he glided—not even skated—in a straight line, kept his arms and shoulders tucked, and the dude ran into him skating backward. What the hell is the guy supposed to do?

It’s interference. The most damning part is when Wilson turns a BIT to his right as he approaches, signaling he knows he needs to and can avoid the collision, then levels Seney anyway. Anyone else gets 2 or 5, end of story. No way to predict DOPS here.

Caps announcers got my vote for the most homerish a couple years ago.

This may have been a reputation call, but you earn that, so he has no one to blame but himself. Clearly he made little to no effort to avoid the collision.

The fact that he has had enough sit downs with DoPS about some of these talking points just shows he doesnt care.

Also, I fight this who “skating backwards” thing. Dude JUST spun to dump the puck in. Theres no way he had enough time to do a pirouette and protect himself from this collision.

Not sure what the outcome will be regarding this hit, but Wilson has to know he is a marked man and needs to avoid hits like this.

But it doesn’t seem to be happening so it will continue until he does.

No doubt this was a reputation call but imagine if the ref had not called it the way he die.

The twitter world last night seemed to be split 50/50 with many of the hockey experts giving their opinions.

While he deserved a 2 min. minor for interference ... I see nothing else wrong with that hit.

Wilson catches him in the shoulder and all of a sudden it world cup soccer time.

Skating backwards admiring his pass .... he deserved the hit.

Good to know nothing else will come of it.
