Last season’s rookie-of-the-year looks bigger, thicker and stronger than when we last saw him and that’s a tantalizing development for this club and its supporters.

As impressive as he was in his rookie campaign, Pettersson wasn’t prepared for the exhausting grind of the NHL’s 82-game death march. There also aren’t a lot of 175-pound centres who’ve gone on to become superstars in their careers and for some historical perspective, we refer you to a player to whom Pettersson has been compared, Peter Forsberg.
