So I guess last year if Brendan Smith for the Wings had waited to hit Chicago’s Smith until after he had shot the puck, Brendan would have only got 4 games instead of 5?

The Department of Player Safety continues to be a joke, and have absolutely no backbone at all.

Oh my GOD would people f*cking let the Smith suspension go? It was a year and a half ago, JESUS.

I didn’t have a problem with the Smith suspension. I was using Smith’s suspension in contrast to Perry’s to note how the problem is the Department of Player Safety continues to be a hot mess of inconsistency and appearances of player favoritism.

In the shortened season, 4 games is functionally 8 games.

That’s a cop out. In any given season a team can be in or out of the playoffs by just 1 point. So not getting points in just 1 game regardless of the length of the season can be huge depending on a particular team’s situation. If the league intended for suspensions this year to not be as long because of the shortened season then they needed to say so at the beginning of the year, and I don’t recall that press release.

Why, because you say so?
I think most rational people realize that 56 points this year is like 95 points in a regular year, and that a four-game suspension in a 48-game season isn’t the same as a four-game suspension in an 82-game season.
