Big Movers In The ESPN Power Rankings

Pierre LeBrun of ESPN takes over the power ranking this week.

On the jump by the Dallas Stars from 27th to 15th...

Not sure what Scott Burnside was smoking last week, burying the Stars at 27th. Jamie Benn's return has lifted Dallas.

The Flyers also jumped 12 slots..

The Flyers have picked up seven of eight points in their last four games, just in time before they embark on a six-game road trip that begins Monday at Toronto.

On the negative side, the Islanders dropped 14 positions.

Four straight losses for the struggling Isles, although they deserved a better fate Saturday, outshooting the Sabres 43-15. The power play is 0-for-22 over the last four games.

I really can’t stand ESPN power rankings for hockey.. instead of using some composite ranking system where each member has input to a team’s ranking, they rotate in ranking them so teams get jumps and subsequent drops based on who is doing the ranking that week.  Pierre Lebrun wouldn’t have ranked Dallas as low as 27th last week, and Burnside wouldn’t have ranked them as high as 15th this week.  What is ESPN smoking?
