Regarding the Rangers, who started winning consistently when the calendar flipped to 2014 and have not stopped, going 10-2-2 this season to equal the franchise’s fastest 14-game getaway while posting an NHL-best 88-36-13 mark over the past 22-plus months:

1. As the Hockey Hall of Fame conducts its induction ceremony Monday night in Toronto, it is worth noting not a single assistant or associate coach has ever been so enshrined.

Presenting for the selection committee’s approval, Benoit Allaire, the Rangers’ extraordinary goaltending coach who, it struck me following Saturday’s game in which newly installed backup Antti Raanta put on a show to beat the Coyotes, is very likely the team’s and organization’s most indispensable individual.
