I was watching the game in real-time along with referee Chris Lee and witnessed the goalie interference initiated by Gallagher on Anderson inside the blue paint. The look we shared prompted Lee to immediately wave off Plekanec's potential goal. One look at the replay provided more than enough evidence to confirm both Lee's decision and my initial call on the play.

If I was a spotter in the press box working for the Montreal Canadiens, hopefully I would be able to cast the deciding vote on a group decision and insist that Therrien not waste his timeout by challenging the referee's initial and correct call.

I have seen some very good decisions made by assistant coaches and/or video personnel with an officiating eye, to get word to the bench and request a coach's challenge. This was certainly not one of those times.
