via Jim Matheson of the Edmonton Journal,
There will be no trading of live bodies for 2020 picks to spice things up, even with teams looking to unload a contract for a draft pick. Remember when Glen Sather, in a thank-you for all his time in Edmonton, bequeathed New York Ranger goalie Cam Talbot to the Oilers in 2015 for three draft picks?
The conditional draft picks are the biggest mess, of course. The league, in a memo, said teams involved can work out a compromise if the draft is before games get up and running again.
Good luck with that. No agreement, then league will rule on it...
...the other conditional deal involves defenceman Mike Green. They gave the Detroit Red Wings a fourth-rounder in 2020 to rent the unrestricted freevagent, but if the Oilers were to win two playoff rounds and Green played at least half of the games, the fourth in 2020 becomes the Oilers’ third rounder in 2021.
