Clean hit on Bedard by Brendan Smith. His shoulder hit Bedard's chest and rode up to catch his jaw. It's too bad because the kid was off to a great start. Not really sure how Foligno got hurt, but it looks like Smith got a two-fer on that whole thing.
Foligno got hurt in the retribution fight against Brendan Smith after a face-off in the 2nd period. The hit on Bedard was in the 1st with about 9:17 to go in the period (6 seconds later Foligno piled on Smith--but it wasn't enough). So Foligno got what he deserved.
Franchise player taken out by aging, hack player who "leads" his team, in penalty minutes.
Nice job Gary. Ass.
It was a 100% clean hit.
Clean hit. Smart hit?
Someone should break his leg for it. Cleanly, of course. Make him think twice next time. Let's play olde time hockey.
No one is/was watching the game because Brendan Smith was innit. The game suffers, clean hit or not....
You're right, we should remove all hitting from the game and give player who don't like being touched special pink jerseys so when they're on the ice, everyone just skates away and lets them 1v1 the goalie.
Big brain idea you got there!
Clean hit and part of the game. Everyone is susceptible to the hits, no one is exempt.
Out of one side of my mouth - I agree with you. EVERYONE is subject to legal hits. PART OF THE GAME! The other side - is that Brendan Smith has to know if he injures # 98 ---- that trouble will ensue. And I do think it was a clean hit. I have no dog in that fight - but - I gotta say that I would not pay $ 0.02 to watch Brendan Smith...but would to see Bedard. Taking names out of this - if someone smokes a 4th line player who had his head down - then que sera. If someone smokes a franchise player - then damn the torpedos - go scorched earth on that player who made the hit.
The Hawks better field a player or three to protect Bedard going forward. All in all - this was an accident and I don't think Smith is a dirty player.
It was a clean hit. Bad break for Bedard as he seems like a good person.
No one is above the clean hit.
