from Damien Cox of the Toronto Star,
Here are the top 10 storylines of the season so far:
- Here’s the sizzle:
Nobody’s hotter than the Philadelphia Flyers right now after nine consecutive victories. Playing in the the NHL’s best division, the Metropolitan, means the Flyers are only third, but they are a distinct threat now in Ron Hextall’s third season running the hockey club. A big reason is the bounce-back season of Jakub Voracek. After scoring only 11 goals last season after signing a $66-million contract, Voraceck has 11 already.
- Lighting it up:
The Columbus Blue Jackets haven’t traditionally made a reputation as one of the most entertaining NHL teams to watch. But with a lethal, league-leading power play that features a reborn Sam Gagner, Alexander Wennberg, super-rookie Zach Werenski, Cam Atkinson and Scott Hartnell, the Jackets have suddenly blossomed into one of the NHL’s more explosive clubs behind only the Rangers and Penguins. Yes, that means we have to give John Tortorella some of the credit.
