from Lance Pugmire of the LA Times,
The NHL is investigating circumstances of a Ducks practice on Friday that the team says was organized by team captain Ryan Getzlaf, the team confirmed Monday.
The probe was first reported by TVA Sports in Montreal.
“The league did contact us [Monday] and we spoke to them,” Ducks General Manager Bob Murray said in a prepared statement released by the Ducks. “Getzlaf did make ice available to teammates and paid a local coach, [who] ran it. There were no Ducks coaches present and hockey operations [staff] were all out of town.”
A Ducks spokesman said no coach or front office official instructed Getzlaf to arrange the session at the team’s practice facility, the Rinks in Anaheim, and it’s unclear how many players attended.
