San Diego, maybe?
from Mike Stephens of The Hockey News,
The Arizona Coyotes, their community and fan base did not get the result they wanted on Tuesday night. Their arena and entertainment district project was voted down in a Tempe referendum, according to the unofficial results.
The early unofficial results indicate that 56 percent of voters chose No to Props 301 and 302, as well as 57 percent voting No to Prop 303 out of 29,153 ballots cast. Voter turnout was 32.55 percent of eligible voters.

(Tempe, Ariz) Arizona Coyotes President and CEO Xavier A. Gutierrez issued the following statement in response to the results of the special election in Tempe:
"We are very disappointed Tempe voters did not approve Propositions 301, 302, and 303. As Tempe Mayor Corey Woods said, it was the best sports deal in Arizona history. The Coyotes wish to thank everyone who supported our efforts and voted yes. So many community leaders stepped up and became our advocates and for that we are truly grateful. We also wish to thank the countless volunteers who worked so hard to try and make the Tempe Entertainment District a reality and the Tempe City Council for their support as well. While we wanted a different outcome, we remain grateful to all those who volunteered their time and talent. What is next for the franchise will be evaluated by our owners and the National Hockey League over the coming weeks."

The Arizona Coyotes' bid for a new arena appears to be dead.
In the first release of results from Tuesday's referendum, voters in the Phoenix suburb of Tempe were strongly against three propositions to build a $2.3 billion entertainment district that would include a new arena for the Coyotes.
Opposition to the three propositions had a double-digit lead over those in favour, with only ballots dropped off Tuesday left to count.
The vote took place after the city of Phoenix and Sky Harbor International Airport expressed concerns about residences that were part of the project in a high-noise area under the airport's flight path.
The Coyotes had hoped a new arena in Tempe would finally allow the franchise to settle down after playing in three different venues since moving to Arizona.
Now it appears the franchise has to search for a new home -- again.
"We are very disappointed Tempe voters did not approve Propositions 301, 302, and 303,'' the Coyotes said. "As Tempe Mayor Corey Woods said, it was the best sports deal in Arizona history. The Coyotes wish to thank everyone who supported our efforts and voted yes.''

What a clown show. The experiment failed years ago, pull the plug.
Hats off to the citizens of Tempe. Hopefully this runs Bettman and the NHL out of Arizona.
I hope other areas of the country take notice as well. Many citizens of minor and major cities have tried and failed to push back on the Sports Entertainment Corporate Welfare. If these billion dollar corporations want these stadiums and districts, acquire the land, apply for the SLUP and pay for the construction and operation costs on your own.

Some addtional info in the field of schemes article. Sucks for the fans but can't blame the voters for telling them what they think. No, the city take out $200m in debt for infrastructure and no you can't have $300m in tax breaks. Who in their right mind would trust the ownership group after the way they've run the franchise?

Houston.
Houston has the benefit of no zoning laws, they don't give much of AF what you build or where.
The Coyotes are once again searching for a new arena plan following a referendum Tuesday that did not go the franchises way. TSN Hockey Insider Darren Dreger lists several options for the team to consider with their future in Arizona seemingly up in the air.

Portland checking in here! We even have an arena with a rink ready to go.
Good on the people of Tempe to realize the cluster that is the Coyotes and vote against this. It's only a matter of time until the team doesn't pay their bills and leaves the town with an arena that will go unused.
As Ferris Buehler said - It's over (Gary), go home.
If you believe in conspiracies, all of this would be just one more reason Lil' Gary and the League couldn't allow Connor Bedard to go to the Yotes.
And with the future of the Yotes in question, if I was Stevie Y, I'd offer them both of the Wings 1st-round picks (and throw in Zadina for good measure) in exchange for their #2 pick. Fantilli would fit in very nicely in Detroit, from both a personal and a professional point of view.
Quebec?
Reports are they want to keep the conference balance so the options are 1) find a way to partner with the Suns and their arena or 2) seeya, probably to Houston in only my opinion.
Odd solicitation. With one year left on their lease to share a college arena and two days after their Plan A (and apparently only plan?) fell apart, they're asking the fans for ideas. Hope they keep up on the rent at Mullett, probably gonna be their home until they leave the state.
