from Aaron Portzline of Puck-Rakers,
The following words and phrases were used to describe last night’s game between the Blue Jackets and the New Jersey Devils in Prudential Center: Awful. Terrible. A mess. Hard to watch. Hard to play. Dull.
And those were the descriptions of the winning team.
The Blue Jackets scored three goals in the third period to break a scoreless tie, and goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky had 23 saves in a 3-1 victory. After eight straight losses to start the season, the Blue Jackets have won two straight.
Style points be damned.
“The boys stayed with it, that’s the good thing,” Blue Jackets coach John Tortorella said. “They knew they weren’t playing well, everybody. We were just slow, but you have to find a way. There are important games to win. We’ll be on the other side of it at some point this season, so we’ll take it and go from here.”
