TAMPA BAY - The Tampa Bay Lightning have acquired forward Tanner Jeannot from the Nashville Predators in exchange for defenseman Cal Foote, the Lightning's first-round pick in 2025 (Top 10 protected), their second-round selection in 2024, as well as third, fourth and fifth-round picks in 2023, vice president and general manager Julien BriseBois announced today.
Jeannot, 6-foot-2, 208 pounds, has played in 56 games for the Predators this season, recording five goals and 14 points, including 85 penalty minutes. He leads Nashville for hits with 213 and all forwards for blocked shots with 51.
The Estevan, Saskatchewan native has appeared in 152 career NHL games, all with Nashville, recording 34 goals and 62 points with 217 penalty minutes. Jeannot has also skated in nine career Stanley Cup Playoff games during the 2021 and 2022 postseasons, recording a pair of assists.
Jeannot was originally undrafted and signed with the Predators as a free agent.
Wow! Tampa Bay gave up a lot forJeannot.
Was thinking the same thing. If tanner can have 10 more seasons like last season then itll work out for TB. But I dont think hell do that. Hes down this season already. 1st thru 5th picks and a solid young defenseman for that? They are missing Stevie Y at the helm already. Nashville robbed them.
The market is hot, paging Steve Yzerman, think long term not short, trade Bertuzzi.
This is really a difficult dilemma. From the team management perspective Bert should be traded, but this will send such a negative message to the team that is trying to make the playoffs. Losing Bert for nothing is hopefully not something SY will allow to happen.
Boston and TB improved, so now it's Toronto turn and I think they would love to have Bert.
Imagining Bert in Toronto uniform would be cringing.
Jeannot's style of play will come in handy in the first round when he has to hit bodies against Toronto.
I think Trotz will do well as GM. Looks like Nashville robbed Tampa.
What a horrible give for Tampa. Kudos to Poile though, this is as good a note to go out on to set the team up.
