from Steve Simmons of the Toronto Sun,
- I don’t know why this amuses me, but it does: Phil Kessel and Leo Komarov are tied in goal-scoring with seven apiece. Komarov’s career high in goals is eight ... There wasn’t a 100-point scorer in the NHL last season. So far, Patrick Kane, Tyler Seguin and Jamie Benn are all scoring at well beyond a 100-point pace ... Sidney Crosby is getting hot. He’s now tied for 95th in scoring, tied with Tyler Bozak, one point ahead of Morgan Rielly, one point behind the great Cam Atkinson.
- Can we please stop referring to Eric Staal as a No. 1 centre? He isn’t anymore. He has 14 points this season, had 54 last year, 61 the year before that. He’s closer to being Vinny Lecavalier than Ryan Getzlaf.
- Boston Bruins are the latest example: If you have strength down the middle, and the Bruins do with Patrice Bergeron and David Krejci, a lot of the other pieces just fall into place.
a few more hockey items mixed in with baseball and the CFL...
