NEW YORK (Jan. 23, 2023) – Edmonton Oilers left wing Zach Hyman, Tampa Bay Lightning center Steven Stamkos and Anaheim Ducks center Trevor Zegras have been named the NHL’s “Three Stars” for the week ending Jan. 22.

FIRST STAR – ZACH HYMAN, LW, EDMONTON OILERS

Hyman paced the NHL with 4-5—9 and a +8 rating, recording multiple points in each of his three outings to help the Oilers (27-18-3, 57 points) post a perfect week and extend their overall winning streak to six contests dating to Jan. 11. He registered 1-2—3, including an assist on Warren Foegele’s decisive goal, in a 5-2 triumph over the Seattle Kraken Jan. 17. Hyman then scored twice (his 19th career multi-goal performance) in a 5-3 victory against the Tampa Bay Lightning Jan. 19. He capped the week with his second career four-point game (1-3—4), factoring on all four Edmonton goals in a 4-2 win over the Vancouver Canucks Jan. 21. The 30-year-old Hyman has points in five straight contests dating to Jan. 13 (4-8—12), including multiple points in a career-best four consecutive games since Jan. 14 (4-7—11). He ranks 14th in the NHL with 24-32—56 overall in 2022-23 (47 GP), already surpassing his career high of 27-27—54 set in 76 appearances last season (his first with the Oilers).

SECOND STAR – STEVEN STAMKOS, C, TAMPA BAY LIGHTNING

Stamkos, who became the 47th player in NHL history to reach the 500-goal milestone, shared the League lead with five goals in four contests (5-1—6) to guide the Lightning (29-15-1, 59 points) to a 2-2-0 week. He collected one assist as Tampa Bay snapped the Seattle Kraken’s eight-game winning streak with a 4-1 victory Jan. 16. Stamkos then potted his 11th career hat trick, highlighted by his 500th goal, in a 5-2 win over the Vancouver Canucks Jan. 18. He became the eighth player in League history to reach the milestone and record a hat trick in the same game – and first since Mats Sundin on Oct. 14, 2006 (w/ TOR). Stamkos finished the week with one goal in each of his next two contests, a 5-3 loss to the Edmonton Oilers Jan. 19 and a 6-3 defeat versus the Calgary Flames Jan. 21. The 32-year-old Lightning captain and two-time Maurice “Rocket” Richard Trophy winner sits 16th in the League with 23-31—54 in 45 total outings this season.

THIRD STAR – TREVOR ZEGRAS, C, ANAHEIM DUCKS

Zegras ranked second in the NHL with 4-4—8 in four games as the Ducks (13-29-5, 31 points) went 1-2-1.
