from Joshua Clipperton of the CP,
Players and coaches have to face the media on a daily basis. Why not referees and linesmen?
"It'd be a great idea," Draisaitl said. "There's no ref out there that's trying to purposely make the wrong decisions."...
"Your perspective's maybe not always the same as the (referee) across the ice from you," Kadri continued. "If you've got the ability to go look at a replay and then answer some questions on what you're thinking after, I think that's a good idea. You get some clarity instead of having to go through six, seven other people or a whole committee or a union.
"Just go get it right from the horse's mouth."

This needs to happen so bad. Its exhausting watching NHL refs tank games only to skate away afterwards without having to answer questions. Fans and players all deserve the accountability from the games officials.
No way.
I have no interest in this.
No. No no no. The ref's wouldn't allow it anyway.
I don't recall seeing the symbol for millions after any ref's paycheck....but I could be wrong.
Players and coaches salaries do contain those zeros though--hence why they are there to promote the game in the media.
I really don't see a huge benefit to have the officials addressing the media. It'll only fuel the frenzy and seems like an unnecessary burden on the refs.
However, if would make sense for the referees to address the team/coaches about specific play calls. Maybe some of those summaries could be made public for the media/fans. A weekly "this is why we made that call" segment. But to make it honest they have to be willing to admit where they made mistakes.
