Sharks Not Happy With Tuomo Ruutu Hit

McLaren crumpled to the ice in a daze. But fortunately for the Sharks, their hard-hitting defenseman said he suffered only a bad headache from the hit that cost Ruutu a five-minute major for boarding, plus a game misconduct.
“I didn’t see him coming,” McLaren said. “My head feels like it got squeezed like a melon.”
“Ruutu does this all the time, and doing it in the last minute, that’s a shame,’’ Sharks Coach Ron Wilson said.
“We don’t need that stuff. You know maybe we do need goonery so he’s held accountable. Run a guy from behind, and I don’t think he could get off the ice fast enough with his game misconduct. Play with class. You hit a guy from behind at that point in the game, it’s ridiculous.’‘
