The NHL salary cap is expected to rise from $44 million to close to $47 million or $48 million next season, but there might not be a rush by all teams to increase their payrolls by that amount.
“Not all markets can afford to keep doing that,” says Anaheim Ducks general manager Brian Burke. “What makes this difficult for us is that we aren’t eligible for revenue sharing, and we are trying to beat teams who are and they are beating us with other team’s money.”
