Most of you know I don't comment on the Wings, I leave that to others but it is time
After a 10-1 loss to the Canadiens, the Wings have lost seven in a row.
Now what?
Do nothing? Probably.
New coach? With GM Ken Hollad in a lame duck position, signed for only this season, no name coach is going to come in, knowing he could be gone at the end of the year. Plus the Ilitch family is not going to handout a multi-year contract to a coach while they ar unsure of who their GM will be.
Shake up the roster, make a trade? Teams will want Larkin, Mantha or Athanasiou and will not give up market value for them.
How about moving a veteran or two? Have you seen some of those contracts?
The Wings are stuck with what they have until a decision is made on the GM position.
As I said on Sirius/XM before the season started, the only reasons to visit the LCA this year is to see the new arena or watch the other team.
Some of you may say, how about an interim coach? Will that change anything besides a new voice? Maybe, but the Wings need much more than a new voice at this time.
Yes, the Detroit Red Wings need a change, I just don't see it happening at this point unless Mrs. Ilitch and son Chris have had enough.
