CANADIENS SCORE 10 GOALS TO EXTEND WIN STREAK
Alex Galchenyuk
(0-4—4) led all players with four points and Paul Byron (3-0—3) netted his first career NHL hat trick as the Canadiens erupted for 10 goals to extend their win streak to five games.

* Montreal scored 10 or more goals in a game for the 54th time in franchise history and second time in the past two seasons, following a 10-1 win vs. COL on Dec. 10, 2016; the previous two such instances before that occurred 11 days apart on Feb. 14 and Feb. 24, 1990.

* The Canadiens, who were one of two clubs to score 10 goals in a game last season, joined the Blackhawks (10-1 W vs. PIT on Oct. 5) as the only clubs to achieve the feat in 2017-18. Before last season, there were only three 10-goal performances over the previous eight campaigns combined.

* Byron recorded the 29th three-goal performance of 2017-18 and was one of five Canadiens with at least three points, along with Galchenyuk and three players who each tallied a goal and two assists – Daniel Carr, Jacob de la Rose and Nicolas Deslauriers.

* Carey Price (22 saves) has been in goal for all five games during Montreal’s current win streak, which comes on the heels of a five-game skid, posting a 1.20 GAA, .962 SV% and one shutout in that span.

OILERS SURVIVE THRILLING THIRD PERIOD TO WIN BATTLE OF ALBERTA
The Oilers saw their 6-1 lead narrowed to a one-goal margin in the final 15 minutes of the third period – after the Flames scored four times in a span of 7:16 – but emerged with a 7-5 victory in the second rendition of the Battle of Alberta this season.

* Saturday marked the 11th time that the Oilers and Flames have combined for at least 12 goals in the same game. The last such instance occurred on Feb. 25, 1990 when the Flames won 10-4.

* The two highest scoring head-to-head matchups between the Oilers and Flames came in 1983-84 when the clubs combined for 15 goals in a game twice during a one-month span (Jan. 3 and Feb. 3).

* Teams have combined for at least 11 goals in a game four times in the opening two days of December. Overall, there have been 27 games this season with 10 or more combined goals (excluding shootout-deciding goals).

KUCHEROV, OVECHKIN KEEP PACE IN SCORING RACE
Lightning forward Nikita Kucherov (2-0—2) and Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin (1-0—1) each found the back of the net on Saturday to move into a share of the League lead with 19 goals.

* Kucherov boosted his totals to 19-19—38 this season (26 GP) to leapfrog teammate Steven Stamkos for the most points in the NHL. Since the beginning of the 2016-17 season, Kucherov leads the NHL with 59 goals.

* Ovechkin scored his 19th goal of the season to move into a tie for 20th in all-time goals and into the top 10 for career power-play goals. Ovechkin (948 GP) is one of two players in the top 21 on the all-time goals list with fewer than 1,000 career games played – Mario Lemieux, who ranks 10th, tallied 690 goals in 915 GP.

CROSBY, RADULOV HELP CLUBS SWEEP HOME-AND-HOMES
Sidney Crosby (1-1—2) and Alexander Radulov (1-0—1) each found the scoresheet to help their teams sweep home-and-home sets:

* Crosby recorded multiple points for the fifth straight game (6-6—12) to help the Penguins earn their fourth consecutive win. Crosby has recorded multiple points in five successive team games two other times in his career: Nov. 13-28, 2006 (4-6—10 in 5 GP) and Nov. 5-13, 2010 (6-6—12 in 5 GP).

* Radulov opened the scoring in the first period to extend his home point streak to nine games (4-7—11) and help the Stars win their fourth straight game, while improving to 10-2-0 at American Airlines Center.

PREDATORS IMPROVE HOME RECORD ON MEMORABLE NIGHT IN NASHVILLE
Kevin Fiala (1-0—1) scored the decisive goal in the shootout to help the Predators improve to 10-2-1 at Bridgestone Arena, tied for the second-most home wins in the League this season (behind NYR: 11-5-2).
