BERGERON HAS FOUR GOALS, FIVE POINTS AS BRUINS EXTEND POINT STREAK
Patrice Bergeron (4-1—5) established and matched single-game career highs for goals and points, respectively, and Brad Marchand (0-4—4) recorded a career-high four assists to help the Bruins extend their point streak to 10 contests (8-0-2).

* Bergeron, who capped Boston’s seven-goal outburst with three consecutive goals, became the second player to score four goals in a game this season (also Alex Ovechkin). He is the sixth Bruins players in the last 40 years to score four goals in a game and first since Dave Andreychuk on Oct. 28, 1999 vs. TBL.

* The Bruins scored on four of their first five shots and five times overall in the first period en route to matching a season high for goals in a game. It marked the first five-goal first period for Boston since the opening frame of an 8-2 victory against the Capitals on Jan. 2, 1994.

* Bergeron scored the 40th hat trick of 2017-18, the most through the first 640 games of a season since 2010-11 when there were 46 hat tricks in 640 GP.

MACKINNON, RANTANEN POWER AVALANCHE TO FIFTH STRAIGHT WIN
After retiring Milan Hejduk’s No. 23 before the game, the Avalanche matched a season with seven goals – highlighted by 1-2—3 outings from Nathan MacKinnon and Mikko Rantanen – to extend their win streak to five games. Colorado won five consecutive games for the first time since Dec. 12-19, 2015 (5-0-0) to move into the final playoff position in the Western Conference.

* At 22-16-3 (47 points), the Avalanche have equaled their win total – and sit one point shy of tying their point total – from the 2016-17 season (22-56-4, 48 points). The largest year-to-year point improvement by an NHL team at the end of the season is 58 – the Sharks went from 11-71-2 (24 points) in 1992-93 to 33-35-16 (82 points) in 1993-94.

* MacKinnon stretched his point streak to five games (3-9—12) to move into sole possession of second in League scoring with 18-34—52 (41 GP). He paces all players with 10-14—24 since Dec. 1 (18 GP).

* Rantanen, meanwhile, has collected at least one point in 11 of his last 12 games (6-11—17), including multiple points in each of his past three outings (3-5—8).

LUNDQVIST PASSES ESPOSITO FOR EIGHTH ON ALL-TIME WINS LIST
Rangers goaltender Henrik Lundqvist made 38 saves through 65 minutes and turned aside three shootout attempts to earn his 424th career win and pass Tony Esposito (423) for sole possession of eighth place on the NHL’s all-time list.

THREE-POINT GAME PUTS KLINGBERG IN REACH OF STARS HISTORY
John Klingberg, Alexander Radulov and Tyler Seguin all collected 1-2—3 to power the Stars (24-16-3, 51 points) to their sixth win in their last eight games.

* Klingberg, who extended his point streak to five games (2-6—8), leads all defensemen with 6-33—39 this season (43 GP) – eight points more than any other blueliner. With his next point, Klingberg will join Craig Hartsburg (1979-80 to 1982-83) as the only defensemen in Stars/North Stars history to record at least 40 points in each of their first four NHL seasons.

* Only one blueliner in franchise history has led NHL defensemen in points at the end of the season – Mike McMahon, Jr. (14-33—47) did so in 1967-68, the club’s inaugural campaign.
