SUNDAY’S RESULTS
Home Team in Caps
Los Angeles 3, CHICAGO 1
WINNIPEG 5, Ottawa 0
VEGAS 3, Arizona 2 (OT)

JETS RISE TO TOP OF LEAGUE STANDINGS
Blake Wheeler collected 1-3—4 to power the Jets (17-6-4, 38 points) to first place in the Western Conference and into a tie, in terms of points, with the Lightning (18-6-2, 38 points) for first place in the overall standings.

* Winnipeg earned their sixth consecutive win at Bell MTS Place while extending their home point streak to ten games (9-0-1). Per Elias, the Jets’ six-game home win streak and ten-game home point streak each sit one shy of matching the longest such runs in Thrashers/Jets franchise history (7-0-0 from Mar. 2-18, 2007 and 8-0-3 from Dec. 9, 2005 – Jan. 13, 2006).

* Wheeler, who collected at least three points for the third time in his last four contests, became the first player with three games of four or more points this season. The Jets’ captain pushed his season totals to 7-28—35 to climb into fourth place in NHL scoring, while surpassing Steven Stamkos (11-26—37) for the League lead in assists.

* Mark Scheifele tallied 1-1—2 to extend his point streak to four contests (3-6—9) and boost his totals to 14-20—34 in 27 GP this season, moving him into fifth place in League scoring.

* Connor Hellebuyck, who has earned the victory in each of the Jets home wins during the run, turned aside all 21 shots he faced to record his first shutout of the season (7th career) and improve to 15-2-3 this season (2.31 GAA, .925 SV%, 1 SO).

DID YOU KNOW?
Per Elias, Patrik Laine scored his 49th career goal while skating in his 100th NHL game to become just the fourth player since the beginning of the 2005-06 campaign to notch at least 49 goals in his opening 100 appearances.

GOLDEN KNIGHTS ENJOY HOME COOKING
Reilly Smith
(1-0—1) scored his first career overtime goal (391 GP) to help the Golden Knights (16-9-1, 33 points) snap a three-game slide (0-3-0) and improve to 10-2-0 at T-Mobile Arena. Elias notes that the Golden Knights became the first team in NHL history to win 10 of its first 12 home games in its inaugural season.

KINGS, STARS PUSH WIN STREAKS TO FIVE GAMES
The Kings (17-8-3, 37 points) and Stars (16-10-1, 33 points) both earned road victories to extend their win streaks to five games, matching the longest active stretch in the NHL.

* Five different skaters recorded multi-point efforts as the Stars erupted for seven goals. Dallas – who scored at least six goals in a game for the third time in its last eight contests – became the sixth team in the last seven days to score seven or more goals in a game.

* Anze Kopitar and Dustin Brown each collected 1-1—2 to help the Kings pad their lead atop the Pacific Division and become the first team this season to record 10 wins on the road (10-3-1). Jonathan Quick made 24 saves to extend his personal winning streak to four games (4-0-0, 1.23 GAA, .952 SV%).

OVECHKIN EYES ANOTHER 20-GOAL SEASON
Alex Ovechkin and the Capitals (15-11-1, 31 points) look to earn their fifth win in their last six contests when they welcome the Sharks (14-9-2, 30 points) to Capital One Arena. Ovechkin, who is tied for the League lead in goals with 19, sits one marker shy of becoming the 11th player in NHL history to begin his career with 13 consecutive 20-goal seasons. Mats Sundin, Jaromir Jagr and Marcel Dionne, who share the NHL record for the longest such run, each opened their career with 17 straight 20-goal campaigns.
